Welcome to The Recordmended Genre Survival Guide. In this series, I will run through some of the main genres in music today and provide tips on how people can find music they like. Especially if they “don’t like” that genre.
I’ve always held the opinion that every genre has something to offer and I’m going to try and prove that with these posts.
Disclaimer: I’m not an expert on all of these genres, and I left some genres out (ex. R&B) because I’m not that well versed in them. These are just some things I picked up on my journey of figuring out what I like and don’t like.
Here is the plan:
Chapter One: Country music for people who don’t like country music
Chapter Two: Metal music for people who don’t like metal music
Chapter Three: Pop music for people who don’t like pop music
Chapter Four: Rap/Hip Hop music for people who don’t like Rap/Hip Hop music
Chapter Five: Is rock dead?
Chapter Six: Alternative music. Is it really the alternative?
Chapter Seven: General tips for discovering music.
So there you have it. I’ll be updating this page with links as the posts get published. I hope some of this helps you have a new appreciation for a genre you gave up on. If not, well, I hope it was a good read.
